About IRA

CPES Instructionally Related Activities

IRA is a subdivision of the CPES that specializes in instructionally related activities, hence the name IRA. While CPES overall does offer more socially specific activities, we focus on providing more hands-on, technical activities directly related to Computer Engineering. This can include long-term projects spanning one or multiple quarters, such as our smartglasses project from last year or our smart mirror project from years prior. This can also include more shorthand activities, such as our Embedded Hackathon, which we hold yearly, or workshops like our Formal Hardware Verification Workshop. We hope to see you at more of our events in the future!

CPES IRA Laser Tag Project

When: Starting Week 3, updates on the times will be announced via CPES Discord.
Where: TBD, will be announced soon via CPES Discord.

Come join CPES IRA to create a small laser tag game. By creating laser tag from the ground up, you can learn basic circuitry and embedded systems, as well as basic project design fundamentals. Suitable for all skill levels, this course is accessible to both those proficient in circuitry and embedded systems, as well as those with no prior experience, offering a fun and challenging experience. This project will span over the fall quarter and will have weekly meetings to work on your devices.

FPGA Hackathon

When: Saturday - Sunday, 10/25 - 10/26
Where: TBD

Come join our FPGA Hackathon hosted by Yuri Panchul. This hackathon is suitable for all skill levels, regardless of whether you have taken digital design classes before. Our event challenges those with no experience, but also those who are already proficient in FPGA design. This event is ideal for those seeking hands-on experience with FPGA projects, learning more about ASIC design tools, microarchitecture design, front-end RTL design, and more. Hope to see you there!
